In June I posted some pictures of the Wieliczka main square (here), in the same blog post I mentioned that I want to visit the salt mine again. Here is the official website of the mine and its tourist underground route, which is well worth visiting. Finally, last weekend, I did that. Below please find some photos from that visit:

Salt buildup on the wooden post is caused by water. Wherever there is water, there is salt growth.

All those figures are made of salt and represent a legend of Queen Kinga.

Many sculptures are dedicated to famous people who either visited the mine or were somehow connected to it. The one pictured above depicts a Polish king, which granted certain privileges to salt miners.
